Summer 2020 Porter Press - Read Online

With the Australian market still very buoyant, we are seeing a real positive start to the new financial year on both the sales and rental sides of the business. The Sandvik crushing and screening opportunities are very strong on the back of the busy Australian extraction and recycling industries, and since Porter Equipment acquired full national distribution rights to the product earlier this year, there has been a strong resurgence of support for the brand. The next exciting development is the arrival of the Ammann heavy compaction equipment stock later this month which will again expand our product range coverage and target customer base. While the Ammann brand is no stranger to the Australian market, the early inquiry through Porter Equipment has been very encouraging as end users explore different avenues, and more convenient methods of acquiring their equipment.

The rental business in Australia continues on its steady growth trajectory with more machines entering the fleet all the time. Once again the Ammann acquisition presents new opportunities for Porter Hire too who will be looking forward to the machine arrivals. The existing customer base and new prospects will soon have the ability to rent a wider range of compaction equipment through Porter Hire in Australia as these Ammann products come on line.

In New Zealand there is certainly a sense of change in the market and perhaps a cooling off after the rapid market growth that we have enjoyed in recent years. Whether it be government economic and fiscal policy driving the shift, or simply an inevitable business cycle phase, there is a sense of flattening in the activity. That being said, there remains some substance to the industry and now is a good time to review how we connect with our customer base and to ensure that we are continually innovating and modernising to stay at the forefront of equipment supply.

Along these lines, Porter Access has expanded geographically into Napier and Whangarei to cater to the growing request for Porter Access equipment. This expansion has been driven by customer demands and is reflective of this divisions’ continued development and success. Porter Hire and Porter Access have also opened a new location in Christchurch (372 Moorhouse Ave) to cater directly to the small civil and utility construction equipment sector.

The Californian team are still enjoying a strong period with continued growth of the rental division. This is not surprising considering the strong orientation towards rental in the market but at the same time Porter Equipment (California) remains steady and represents a key growth area for the group in the USA.

Overall the Porter Group is continuing to build its footprint in Oceania and the USA, and sincerely appreciates the ongoing support received from the many loyal customers the make this possible. We will endeavour to keep revolutionising what we do and keep evolving as a leading equipment provider.
